Multifaceted but monotonous about Swedish Jewish history

Abstract

Carl Henrik Carlsson's all-embracing book about Swedish Jewish history is both longed for and much needed. The book's historical writing is sometimes touching, but it largely prioritizes hard facts. Despite revisions of earlier narratives, the book lacks a clear argument about how Jewish life in Sweden has been formed by both the interaction with the Swedish majority and inner-communal relations.
